We have a Breather but the Starpulls Theory will still be needed.

Introduction:
|
We can relax on Global Warming. Climate Change has always been with us and is perfectly normal. Over the eons, adaptation and some migration may be required but interference would only make conditions worse.
This is a separate page because it involves politics more than science. In early ’07 this page recognized that all the emphasis on CO2 was hokum and predicted the biofuels disaster. The author still thought G.W. was real however, until recently advised of the links (in table below).
This revelation plus the discovery of Arctic Oil led to this extensive revision June 25/08. Although the main urgency is now gone, it is all still related to the most important prediction of this site.
The unknown part is the timing and seriousness of energy related hardships. As of March/08, the author’s prognosis |
was that if we continue on our present course we are in for a rather disruptive oil shortage lasting at least 5 years. During that time, any disruption(s) in oil supply could be truly disastrous. (“Final Warning” is an article devoted to this vulnerability in the June 28 – July 4/08 issue of NewScientist).
As of Aug. 5/08 the price of oil has taken a surprising drop mainly because of a sudden reduced demand. All kinds of American vehicles and airplanes are being used much less. “Ouch” for vehicle manufacturers, trucking and airline companies. Secondary factors are profit taking by speculators, increased production by Saudi Arabia, and off-shore rigs being spared by hurricanes – so far. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for people to tire of the ‘not driving/flying’ idea. Will northern cyclists put chains on their bikes for winter? Will people turn down thermostats to the point of wearing parkas indoors? This is probably just a temporary dip and we can expect prices to soon rise again. |
What about the alleged Global Warming?
|
· The short answer is that climate change is just a scam that has taken on a life of its own. There is absolutely no real evidence, and G.W. simply does not exist. · CO2 is an insignificant greenhouse gas and as Dr. Reid A. Bryson puts it, “You can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide”. · The dire predictions are totally based on inaccurate and incomplete computer models, not real measurements and scientific method.
Space does not permit and duplication is pointless so if you need convincing that Global Warming is a scam, please see John Coleman’s Comments and Global Warming Links These pages and their links to articles and videos should contain enough debunking to convince anybody. |
· Polar bears obviously did not become extinct when Greenland really was Green, nor during any previous inter-glacial period. · You may have also heard that melting permafrost releases methane. As a greenhouse gas, it is more effective than CO2 but still only one step up from insignificant when compared to water vapour. · Many feedback loops interact with varying delays so there are + and – overshoots but climate is self-regulating. Interference is futile and counter-productive. · An ice sheet melting is a localized phenomenon. Even geographically disperse surface temperatures are still only part of the whole. When we include satellite data for the whole planet and its atmosphere at many altitudes however, a different picture emerges. · Our blue orb has actually cooled over the last ten years while we are in a solar ‘quiet’ period. |
Peak Oil and the Looming Shortage:
|
· The oil industry was terrified a few years ago because we had passed "Peak Oil" and deposits of cheap "sweet crude" were depleting (just as demand from China and India was rapidly increasing). · Governments deny the oil shortage but way back on Feb. 1/06 President Bush declared, “America must end its dependence on oil….” · If no growing shortage exists, then why are governments spending $billions on the Alberta Tar Sands? |
· The Saudis’ actions also speak louder than words. King Abdullah doubtless saw the end of their oil economy and the need to transform Saudi Arabia into a knowledge-based society. That is why the King launched a university of Science & Technology with an approx. $10 billion endowment. To the King’s credit, the university will operate on an interdisciplinary basis to tackle specific challenges such as energy research. |
WHY was this Damaging and Costly G.W. Scam created?
|
It is only the author’s opinion but it would seem logical to draw the following conclusions from history to date: · Since Power or Women are unlikely motives, that leaves Money. · In this case, Oil Companies feared eventually Losing Money because of dwindling supplies. · It’s all about OIL.
There is still plenty of oil out there but not the good stuff. Oil companies have been forced to go back to abandoned wells and extract the "dregs". They also had to spend more on harder to access new wells. In both cases, what they got was "sludge" which was also more expensive to refine. Perhaps the most obscene example is the Alberta Tar Sands where strip mining is used, then heat from natural gas extracts ‘oil’ from the shale; all at great cost even before refining. |
· The governments of developed nations also realized that we were facing collapse of automotive, airline and many other industries i.e. the whole economy. · At first governments issued pleas to "save oil" and nobody listened. Then they allowed gas (petrol) prices to rise....nobody cared. Some taxed SUVs and offered rebates on fuel efficient vehicles....few takers. That is when someone got a brilliant idea. · "If voluntary and monetary incentives to save oil don't work...let's scare the crap out of them!" · World governments seized on the alleged global warming as a Convenient incentive and the scam was born! · Something had to be done and the designers no doubt still believe the economic results of not ‘pushing’ conservation would have been worse than the damages listed below. |
The likely way ‘Operation Guilt & Fear’ was implemented:
|
· Environmentalists had already publicized the alleged G.W. (I am sad to say that in my mind “CZ” now equates to “Carbon Zealot” rather than the beautiful Catherine Zeta Jones.) · First, Government and Oil Companies funded ‘scientific’ research to lend credibility to the alleged G.W. They also funded conferences in exotic locations and guess what? They got supportive results. · Free Press and investigative reporting are things of the past. To save money, media thrive on anything sensational and just take whatever sound bites and |
photo-ops are handed to them. Our governments & industries of course, take advantage and have become expert at manipulating the media. The media ‘lapped’ it all up. · A small group with no individual accountabilities then blamed peoples’ CO2 emissions for global warming and scared them with famine and flooding. Killing lights on the Eiffel Tower was reminiscent of Bush’s “Operation Shock and Awe” (and about as effective). · U.N. conferences continued ad nauseam. |
The Damaging results of the G.W. Scam:
|
· First, there is the biofuels disaster which would have absolutely no effect on G.W. even if it did exist. It is someone's brilliant idea of another way to save OIL. · Biofuels merely turn the oil shortage into a food shortage which hurts poor people the most. Moderation would be OK but unfortunately bureaucrats decided that “if a little is good – more is better” – wrong! · Greed and speculation have forced poor people off their land, increased deforestation, and water usage. Countries are converting millions of acres to palm oil, sugar cane and other crops used to make biofuels. Does “Easter Island” ring any bells?
|
· In late April/08 we started being treated to daily news about riots, high food prices, shortages, and export bans. “Peak Oil” begat “Peak Grain”. · Liberal governments use any excuse to raise taxes and a “Carbon Tax” is a perfect way to waste taxpayers’ money. · The “Carbon Credit” market is not needed to mitigate G.W. which does not exist. It only makes speculators rich. It seems someone always figures a way to profit from the misfortune of others. |

The Brazil Syndrome:
|
People point to Brazil as the Ethanol ‘success’ story. It is only a qualified success because they increased deforestation in order to grow sugarcane. Brazil vehemently defends biofuel because it works for them. Their advantage is that sugarcane yields more ethanol than corn and has less effect on the food chain. |
Unfortunately, we do not grow much sugarcane in Moose Jaw, SK or Wala Wala, WA. In North America, using corn for ethanol may be good for farmers but everybody else pays more for corn, meat, fruit, vegetables and grain, i.e. all food. (This is partly due to other countries’ excessive production of biofuels and the resulting global demand for food). |
Damaging Results of the G.W. Scam (Cont).
|
· Saving oil and finding renewable sources of energy are still short term “band aids” however. · At the time, the only known adequate supply of energy could come from Nuclear. |
· Because the public has been scammed into thinking that CO2 emissions are bad, it has started a perilous shift in thinking. Strangely, nobody stopped exhaling J but it has led to the new, and greatest global threat yet….some people are actually calling for the use of more nuclear power. |
More Nuclear (under these circumstances) would be Disastrous3
|
· It typically takes 15 years to properly build and commission a nuclear plant. During that time however, energy prices will continue to increase. All nations are guaranteed to become increasingly desperate. · If they see extra plants being built - everybody will demand nuclear power and global proliferation will be unstoppable! · It only takes one nation to become a source of materials and expertise to those who cannot be trusted with it. |
· Just think of the implications of every nation with the capability to produce nuclear weapons? · Some countries will try to reduce the 15 year wait and cut corners, making their plants dangerously vulnerable to radiation leaks, unsatisfactory waste disposal, human error, and even meltdown. · More reactors = more targets for terrorism. · A German study confirms that long-term low-level radiation causes childhood cancer near nuclear power plants. |
This changes Everything:
|
Five years instead of 15 is a better lead time; for a Newly Discovered and Better Alternative. Things are now actually looking brighter for the OIL industry with vast discoveries in the Arctic. Those deposits are predicted to meet our needs for 100 years!
See the initial report. |
Remember, CO2 and G.W. was only a scare tactic, sparse wildlife in the area will be safe, and we have learned to scrub pollutants from exhaust so there is absolutely no reason to deny ourselves this oil.
There is still a sovereignty ‘battle’ to sort out between Canada, Russia, Denmark, U.S.A. and Norway but production could begin within 5 years. |
How to survive Oil shortage for the next 5+ years:
|
Increase production? Not likely. The Saudi oil supply must last long enough to achieve their transformation to a knowledge-based society. This alone is reason enough for the Saudi refusal to increase oil production just because President Bush asked for it. Under pressure from just about everyone in the oil business at the June 22/08 summit in Jeddah however, Saudi Arabia reluctantly agreed to a modest increase in production.
With oil prices high enough, “pain at the pump” finally got everybody’s attention by April/08. Countries all over the world are now using more efficient vehicles and appliances. Government and private use of wind and solar power also helps. (There is therefore no longer any need to continue the G.W. deception). |
Conservation, renewable sources and associated technologies should at least ease the pain until Arctic oil kicks in.
Although not available everywhere, Hydro-Electric and Tidal plants provide much greater power output, notwithstanding ecological concerns. As China has learned however, Hydro may not be such a good idea there. One of three major Tidal power users, Canada will again avoid the ecological concerns of damming and is preparing to install more submerged turbines to tap the Bay of Fundy tides.
If greedy bureaucrats can be reeled in, biofuels in moderate use would still be useful. |
The Medium Term:
|
We should have a 100 year breather thanks to Arctic oil. Oil companies will need their current windfall profits to finance development in the Arctic. Oil there will continue to be somewhat expensive to access and many new refineries will be needed. Because these costs will be reflected in the price of oil and gasoline, a limited number of nuclear plants would then make sense. |
As we burn more and more fuels, be it fossil, bio or nuclear, all of that heat could become a problem. When added to natural sources, and if solar activity resumes, it could be enough to exceed the tipping point. Global Warming could finally become real. |
HEAT + WATER VAPOUR = GLOBAL WARMING
(Natural & Human Produced)
As a matter of interest, we humans have heat emitters that are orders of magnitude
worse than any plane, train, or automobile (click to see):
The Heat Canons (Bad x 2)
|
The cooling tower of a nuclear power plant looks like a huge canon at zenith because that is exactly what it is. Similar towers are also used at fossil fuel-fired stations and petrochemical installations. This method of cooling avoids immediate heat damage to the ecosystem of a river or body of water. “Out of sight – out of mind”. However there is another cliché, “what goes around comes around”. Engineers are often loath to modify or “enhance” anything for fear of creating new problems. Saving the river did just that. |
The Heat Canon hits Global Warming with a “double whammy, or 1-2 punch”. The tower ‘shoots’ heated air up into the atmosphere; and adding insult to injury, saturates that hot air and sends aloft plenty of additional water vapour, ensuring the heat is trapped there. Thousands of liters of water are evaporated per minute. Any water not evaporated looks like smoke rising from the tower. The rest is either returned to the loop or dumped (adding more, but lower grade heat to a river or body of water). |
